FPGA DESIGN ENGINEER (M/F/D)
Job description
As an FPGA Design Engineer, your main focus will be to design, develop, integrate, and test FPGA/SOC solutions for EGSTON’s existing and next generation PHIL systems.
Your responsibilities
- FPGA/SOC Design and Development for Power Electronics.
- Autonomous development of sophisticated working packages in VHDL / (System) Verilog for AMD (Xilinx) and/or Intel (Altera) devices.
- Usage of High-Level Synthesis (Vivado HLS, Xilinx System Generator, MATLAB Simulink) to speed up development cycles.
- Perform result-oriented analysis and debugging of newly developed packages as well as existing ones.
- Preparing reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation, and maintenance of the developed applications.
- Close collaboration with software and hardware teams to ensure on-time and quality release of the developed applications.
- Supporting industrialization and certification efforts for the newly developed products and the upgrades of the existing products.
- Additional responsibilities include participating in the factory- and site acceptance testing of the non-standard and more complex customer systems as well as technical support for customer demos.
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Embedded Systems or equivalent qualification (advanced degrees are preferred).
- At least two years of experience in FPGA/SoC design.
- High interest and focus on practical experimentation, from the system design, testing and validation, up to product certification.
- Solution-oriented mindset and ability to work in a highly dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency in VHDL and/or (System) Verilog.
- AMD (Xilinx) tool flow (Vitis, Vivado, XSDK)
- Language: English (required), German (preferred).
- Knowledge about CI / CD pipelines
- SCM (atlassin, gitlab, github)
- C/C++ (for embedded systems)
Preferred skills
- Practical experience with Yocto
- Practical experience with Intel (Altera) tool flow (Quartus)
- Practical experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Xilinx System Generator
- Practical experience with HIL systems
- (Basic) knowledge of power electronics
- (Basic) knowledge of electrical engineering

For this position we offer an annual compensation including a variable portion of at least € 50,000 gross (full-time). The actual amount of your remuneration will depend on your qualifications and your experience and will be agreed upon individually
